How do you define success in life?

I seem to have absolutely no issues with defining success, my problem area is more in the realms of experiencing success. I’ve tasted or licked a few crumbs, but am yet to snack of a full adult-sized portion of success. Am I hungry? Am I easily satiated? Do I think I even deserve a seat at the table of success? Or am I forever relegated to the kid’s sized table? Is there actually a difference?

Do I stop eyeing off the adult-sized jumbo portions and turn my focus towards enjoying every ounce of crumb, or snack-sized bite of smaller success? After all we can only enjoy any of it one mouthful at a time.

Perhaps I’d likely develop a form of success-induced indigestion if I got to pig out on the jumbo-sized success pack- manifesting itself as inflated ego and pride. Who knows? Until then I’ll practice mindfulness and gratitude for the tasty little morsels of success. Especially the ones I’ve fought hard to create.

After all we’ve all got our own unique tastes, aversions and peculiarities. Success looks and feels completely different to each and everyone of us.

However I would love to experience the success of being a celebrated published author. Perhaps my life lesson is to embrace the actual success of being the 1% who actually do finish writing a book and actually publish. Perhaps that the success I’m meant to internalise and embrace and not the external ideas of success.
