What’s the most underrated movie you’ve ever watched?
I’ve watched countless movies – I love almost every genre except gratuitously violent horror and slasher movies. I have a passion for world Indy movies. One beautifully poignant movie was the 2003 South African movie ‘The Wooden Camera’ that made me cry ugly tears. It is a beautifully sad and awe inspiring account of connectedness, personal choices and consequences, friendships and belonging., set across the hauntingly beautiful South Africa’s Cape Town and environs.
My go to reset movie is ‘Matilda’, as I find it disturbingly funny, sad and uplifting all in one. It’s really deep for a kid’s movie. It’s much like a deceptively deep puddle of water, you expect lighthearted frivolity and end up swirling through some pretty deep feelings and concepts of love, self compassion, trauma, post traumatic growth and platonic love.
