What are your top 10 travel destinations?
As an Australian I long to travel the depth and breadth of this amazing planet (however at present have consciously chosen to not travel due to geopolitical issues) I have travelled extensively in the past, both domestically and internationally. Australia is a remarkable land of incredible diversity and beauty, however my is of destinations I long to visit (internationally)
Once I feel ethically able to travel, I will be absolutely giddy with anticipation. I’m itching to travel again.
Number One – The Arctic Circle – Finnish and Swedish Lapland. I dream of the Aurora Borealis, the snow capped forests and deep snow. I dream about the smell of the Arctic, the sights and sounds of the sublime landscape.
Number Two – Norway. I dream of visiting Norway (not merely fly from The Netherlands to Iceland and use Oslo as a stopover) I want to immerse myself in the culture, languages and landscapes. Nature … Nature and more Nature.
Number Three – Need I explain in the sublime beauty of The Faroe Islands. My mind tries to drink in the enormous beauty of the Faroe Islands- the wild and untamed beauty of nature.
Number Four – Back to Iceland to see more than I did last time. I’d hire a van and travel the entire country, basking in the wild and otherworldly beauty.
Number Five – Scotland’s Far North – The Outer Hebrides. Need I say just how incredible Scotland is, the remarkable rugged beauty and craggy outcrops, lochs and highlands?
Number Six – Wales . Again another country on intense rugged beauty. I long to walk along the Welsh coast and feel the power of the surging seas.
Number Seven – Malta. Malta looks amazing,
Number Eight – Portugal. I’ve been to Spain and really felt disappointed that I couldn’t make it to Portugal.
Number Nine – Estonia looks picture book perfect, especially winter scenery of snow covered steeples.
Number Ten- Greenland. In deepest darkest winter.
