What would you do if you won the lottery?
If extremely sizeable I’d pay off our house, bank the rest whilst seeking financial advice on setting on trusts for my kids. This is important as I’d want to make sure my daughter with disabilities is catered for, and protective measures put in place. As well as ensuring my two sons are set up as best as possible. I’d take the family, including my sister and her family, and my mum on a dream holiday to Norway/Finland/FaroeIslands to see deep winter and the Northern Lights. I’d buy my dream camera and lenses. I’d help my sister pay off her home. I’d make donations to causes close to my heart. I’d definitely buy a country property on acreage, complete with a source of water, rich arable land with a combination of alluvial flood plane and cascading meandering ranges, which would support a sustainable lifestyle. I’d build a humble off grid home and lifestyle. I’d also like to create a country retreat for families with loved ones with disabilities who find it extremely difficult to get away from the city.
I’d buy my hubby his dream car (not sure what it is currently as it changes with all the newest and latest technology) I would be pretty tame with my spending, with no real frivolity, as I’m too pragmatic for that. I guess growing up in poverty really impacted me, and my relationship with money and “things”. Having said that I’d more than likely want to buy new luggage and clothes for everyone’s holiday to the Arctic Circle. I’d definitely not fly economy either, as I’ve done too many long haul economy class flights from Sydney to Europe (Hubby is Dutch). I believe that my family and I are worth the splurge of flying business (couldn’t justify the absolute absurdity of flying first class – that just seems like an obscene waste of money and show of privilege) I’m not a tight arse (pardon the language) it’s just that I can’t imagine ever feeling comfortable with wasting money on first class – however if I was to win first class tickets, then that’s a whole other story. Where can I sign up?
