What is a word you feel that too many people use?
Should have…
Could have …
Would have …
These three words have a significant impact and subsequent effect on people’s sense of self-efficacy and agency. Generally, when I hear a client utter, “I should have, or, I could have, or would have”, they’re usually framed through a negative, sad and disillusioned lens. It is usually deeply entangled in feelings of shame, sadness, powerlessness and lack of control. I’d love to remove those words … so that people (including myself) needed to be brave, courageous, present, and aware of the moment, and its inherent power to make the desired decisions and life changes.
And the other words are ‘sorry‘ (if you’re gonna say it, mean it!) and ‘love’ … Love is a verb, an action word. Unless you’re putting it into motion, it’s just 4 empty letters strung together. To breathe real power into it, it needs to come alive through action.
