Where do I start?
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Quite literally I’ve received some amazing advice, but two moments of monumental importance ring out. Firstly, as I stood in my then almost 3-year old daughter’s neurologist hospital office, hearing the words “your daughter’s MRI scans and other tests confirm she has TSC” (Tuberous Sclerosis Complex)…

So many things … the power of the great unmasking.
What’s something you used to worry about but don’t anymore? I’ve consciously embraced radical empathy and self-compassion, as well as letting go of the need to be the version of myself that other people expect, demand or desire. I’ve let go of the belief or understanding that I can influence or control the way someone…

As Maya says …
What’s a quote that perfectly describes your outlook on life? “In diversity there is beautyand there is strength.” Maya Angelou Therefore let’s all be our unique versions of ourselves- and not simply learn to contort and conform to any mindless and destructive societal expectations. Let your quirkiness shine, unmasking for all to see, learn and…

Big question!
If you had to give one life-changing tip, what would it be? My dad always said “you don’t need to attend every argument that you’re invited to”. I always thought this was great advice, however feel that it’s only half of the picture. I’ve come to realise how important it is to realise that each…

My dream travel destinations.
What are your top 10 travel destinations? Australia is a remarkable land of incredible diversity and…

Authenticity
What quality do you value most in a friend? The qualities that I most value in a friend are discernment, compassion, emotional intelligence, sincerity, humility, a great sense of humour and the ability to see me for who I am, not who they need me to be. Respect is also a key friendship building stone,…

To be honest
What are you good at? I’m good at so many things, but sadly not great. I am good at emotional integration, radical empathy, healthy detachment and compartmentalisation. I have good pattern recognition skills and have taught myself to say “no” much more easily.

It’s all just material
What personal belongings do you hold most dear? At the end of the day… It’s all just material stuff that can be replaced. My mother died two days ago (almost) and her passing has taught me that things are just replaceable stuff. It’s the deeply personal treasures that can’t be replaced, the tattered photos of…

My mum
Who would you like to talk to soon? My mother passed away on Saturday 23rd of May (two days ago) I would love to ask her “Mum, are you happy and at peace now?” I would also ask “Have you seen Dad and three of my siblings who had passed? Especially my brother Mark?”

A changing lens
What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable? My beautiful mother passed away almost 48 hours ago – thankfully her final unfurling released her from the gnarled clutches of pain and suffering. She is at peace. I am feeling the warm hug of comfort, knowing that her spirit is now free to…
