A Singular Voice in a kaleidoscopic world of noise

Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

Personally, I feel that someone who allows themselves the dignity and freedom to lean into their vulnerabilities, sensitivities, areas of strength and areas of perceived weakness are by very definition the epitome of unique. I view uniqueness as the gift, art or mindset of owning one’s own idiosyncrasies, and being unapologetically awareness of their quirks. I find that in a world often overrun by vanity, superficiality and greed – those who choose to act with compassion, kindness and integrity are very unique. I see uniqueness in those who choose to stand up, speak up and be counted. Uniqueness, is realising that you are different and that’s ok, and that you don’t need to transform yourself. Or dramatically change oneself , trying to pour yourself into life’s expectations and designated crevices – creating some other curated version of yourself. Just to appease others. Uniqueness is the ability to understand your singular voice and making the choice to accept it, sharpen its clarity and tonal difference.

In a world of conformity- being unique is an action. A journey of self acceptance, self-love and discovery. It requires bravery, courage and self-belief. It requires tenacity and strength to stand up against the prevailing winds of ‘sameness’ and simply be yourself.

Uniqueness also allows their owners to accept the innate messiness and awkwardness of life.

Uniqueness is the ability to be who you are without worrying too much about changing to fit someone else’s narrative.

Look at a twisted gnarled tree standing amongst the beautifully tall forests. The uniqueness of the gnarled tree can be evidenced in each and every knot, bulge, twist and turn. In the uniqueness of its colour and patterns – the light and shade. Such is life and the life of those who courageously choose to honour their version of uniqueness.
