Rest and pause are crucial for self-care

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I need quiet, unhurried days to prevent burnout. I need to stop and pause, taking precious moments out to rest, recharge and recalibrate. I need to pluck myself out of life’s fast flow, gently find a quiet eddy (as in slower flowing water not eddibles) and catch my breath. We all need to take a quiet reprieve – find a safe space to stop and breathe.

So, no I do not view ‘lazy’ days as unproductive. They are the pit stops that enable me to keep up with this forever quickening pace. They are the moments, when I can simply let go, and relax -recentre, recharge my reserves. Otherwise I’m running on empty and not getting the best out of myself or life. Rest days are self-care, especially being a parent to a child with a disability and complex medical needs.
