Seriously?

What are your top ten favourite movies?

Asking me to neatly recall my top 10 favourite movies, is literally the equivalent an asking me to count the stars in the sky, or grains of sand on the beach. Movies (the good ones that is) have a mystical and magical power of transporting the viewer to another place, time or realm. They help us to disconnect or connect, feel or dissociate, laugh or cry (or both) and a whole range of other emotions. Their meanings and impact are contextualised and shaped by our experiences and understandings at time. Watching a movie in my teens that may have elicited a huge emotional response, now is merely an exercise in reminiscing. There are movies that left me breathless, sitting on the edge of my seat, however the vast majority of movies are predictable and unremarkable with poor character arcs.

I love sci-fi fantasy and folklore. I abhor gratuitously violent movies, and cannot stomach horror. I love movies that have the might to drawn me in and sweep me up, transporting me to another place or time.
