This is highly subjective.

What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?

For me it goes without saying that the most important thing to carry is the right attitude. The right attitude is a robust concoction of resilience, compassion, emotional intelligence, humour, humility, integrity, personal reserve and a pinch of healthy detachment. The right attitude is like a balm that will help soothe, solve, negate, minimise or prevent many of life’s challenges, wounds or traumas. Like any balm it’s not simply good enough to lay unopened and unused, but applied readily and consistently, specifically to targeted problem areas. Likewise the right attitude should be a constant companion on life’s journey, not simply snuck in the back pocket and only aired in times of desperation.

And lastly, whether this is my Australian psyche and perspective or not – a healthy dose of irreverence is crucial. You know the quintessential irreverent and self-deprecating humour. Additional to this is the belief we are all born equally deserving of love, respect and human dignity regardless. It is our actions and choices that define us, nothing else! So it’s essential that I carry these beliefs or personal truths with me. They provide the highly nuanced lens and framework that I view life through. They underpin my moral compass.
