What is your favorite form of physical exercise?
I love swimming, in fact I think there must have been a mermaid in my family tree. I literally can spend hours swimming, diving and frolicking in the water. I enjoy watching the air bubbles catch the light, as well as the feeling of sunshine and water on my skin. Actually, one of my greatest joys is actually swimming in the rain (albeit warm summer rain) I also enjoy walking, especially bushwalking, although I generally take my camera with me. This allows me to literally walk for hours, but in some type of meditative state. The sounds of nature, birdsong, trees, fresh air and movement help to create a positive sensory experience. I am also really surprised with just how hardcore and strenuous gardening can be, between all the digging, shovelling, lifting, bending, stretching and kneeling. Gardening can be a full body workout, as well as great for mental health.
Why is exercising so rewarding? It allows me to get out of my head, and experience the moment and energy within my body. It releases the feel good chemicals, and has lasting physiological benefits.
