When I am completely immersed in creative activities, such as writing and photohraphy, it is as though time is mysteriously suspended. I find that there is almost a sense of dissociation, that is I am so completely entrenched in what I am doing, that the rest of the world can kind of slip away. I can even experience this at work, when I am completely engrossed in what I am focusing on, I actually need to ensure that I am mindful of time, deadlines and pending appointments.

I would even say that phyiscal activities such as swimming, walking and gardening also have a similar effect., or have the potential to elicit a similar response. I could literally spend hours suspended in water, yet it merely feels like minutes. Likewise with gardening, I can lose myself amongst the weeding, the planting, and the sensation of being in nature. I can spend time experiencing feelings of awe and wonder, watching as native bees dance upon the plants I have planted. I listen to the birds, feel the sun and breeze on my face, as it becomes a multisensory adventure. I literally enjoy watching sunlight dance upon my garden. while listening tto birdsong.
FInally, I can spend too much time on social media, reading threads that connect people’s thoughts from around the world. It is great to connect with other like-minded people.
