Adulting is so overrated

Do you need a break? From what?

I need a break from adulting. I had no idea of the all-pervasive nature of adulting, before I signed up for this gig. 😊😊😊 I’m just speaking in jest – a little humour embedded in reality.

On a serious note, I would love some time to just get away into nature, not worry about work or home life. I would love some simple respite where I can simply just β€˜be’ as opposed to constantly β€˜doing’. Somewhere I can delve ever so deeply into the creative flow, totally immersing myself in the knowledge that I won’t need to be plucked out simply to solve some mundane issue, like β€œwhat are you going to cook for dinner tonight mum?” or β€œhave you given A######## her medication yet?”

I think a little break from the ordinary to reimagine and reinvent the extraordinary within my life is needed. Time for a quick but gentle reset, recalibration and holistic rejuvenation.

Balancing a profession which requires high emotional intelligence, strong communication and professional skills with the role of being caregiver to my daughter with disabilities can extract a physical and emotional toll at times. I love what I do, who I am and my beautiful family, yet a little space to spread my sometimes clipped wings and have the freedom to soar the creative thermals of life is what I need. It’s also want I want. It’s up to me to get creative and assertive enough to bring it to fruition. So without putting healthy boundaries in place I’ll lack the full capacity to exercise choice and control of my life.
