What are your favorite sports to watch and play?
In short I’m not really into watching sport, albeit for an exciting last few overs of cricket (if it’s been a particularly close match and down to a few balls). I don’t mind watching football (soccer) deciders during the World cup, but have to look away if it comes down to penalties. It’s just way too frustrating and anxiety inducing.
Now if you were to ask my sports crazed 18yo son this question, the answer would read like a veritible who’s who of just about every code of sports, not just here in Australia but literally spanning the globe. There would be a flurry of acronyms flying off the page, like NRL, ARL, AFL, NHL, NFL, BBL, NBL, and ILT20 amongst a few. Yes, he wants to tell me about each code, the league table leaders, who’s been relegated and most importantly who the MVP players are, and whether or not they’re living up to their hype. I must admit my eyes glaze over, and I hear my voice slip into an auto pilot “wow, that’s so interesting”. On an actual interesting note, Uni resumes at the end of February, and he’s doing a great double degree (which suits his strong social justice conscience) he did get to choose one unit which is pretty much the social and political history of sport (global and domestic) I can only imagine his tutorial participation Mark will be a high distinction (that’s if he doesn’t hog the conversation) I didn’t mean to write about my son.
Finally I love swimming and doing aqua based resistance and cardio training. I could easily spend 2 hours a day doing it, so need to be disciplined that I don’t become obsessed with it.
