I could answer this prompt so many different ways.

List your top 5 grocery store items.

However in terms of absolute grocery staples, the following are frequent flyers in my shopping trolley. Yes here in Australia we refer to our shopping dobby-lacky wheeled apparatus as a trolley, and not a cart. go figure! Anyway I digress, drum roll please!

Vitasoy unsweetened Almond milk- why? Because myself and my kids all have dairy allergies and Vitasoy unsweetened almond milk is far superior to other brands. I actually used to make my own almond milk by hand, thankfully that’s no longer the case. it’s delicious!

Old El Paso Jumbo gluten free tortilla wraps. They are soft, pliable and lend themselves to a multitude of recipes and uses. They are beautiful teamed with vegan cheese and toasted. They make great salad and avocado wraps. They stay fresh in the lunch-box and I know my daughter will actually eat them while at school.

Rice – Jasmine, Brown, Sushi and Arborio. Rice noodles. We can’t imagine a world without rice and all its gloriousness. Just writing this, I can smell rice cooking.

Coffee – coffee is extremely important in our family. I’m a 1-2 cups a day person, so I make sure I enjoy it. Coffee is serious business here in Australia and we are renowned for making some great brews.

Frozen strawberries & Frozen Mixed Berries. One of my son’s favourite foods is frozen strawberries, he’ll eat them by a frozen bowl full at a time. I also use frozen berries to make Almond milk, medjool dates, banana smoothies. I feel like I’m feeding my body, mind and spirit when drinking these delicious concoctions. Mind you, nothing beats drinking water. Nothing!

There are always fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, meat for the husband & kids, vegan cheese, olive oils etc in my trolley. Oh and dark dairy free chocolates that speak to my daughter’s heart and soul. I do all my own gluten free bread and bagel baking, so the much needed ingredients are always lurking in my trolley.
