I feel that this prompt is left best unanswered.

Name the most expensive personal item you’ve ever purchased (not your home or car).

It’s been intriguing to read the vast array of responses. It becomes painfully obvious that there is such a huge wealth disparity between both individuals and countries. It illuminates the fact that in so many western societies, such as my own there can often be obscene waste and consumption. To juxtapose a beautiful posters response stating that he saved enough money to buy his wife sandals, with personal stories of people close to me spending $1000s on clothes, bags, shoes and cosmetic procedures. The divide is immeasurable. All I know is that my most expensive personal purchases have been electronics, such as my camera, laptop and phone. These items aren’t frivolous and easily disposable. They add real depth, meaning and function to my life. They enable me to build upon my potential. I’ve been saving up for a new camera, and a fantastic macro lens. My current camera is starting to really age, and no longer can perform the things I ask of it. It’s actually 7 years old now, so I don’t feel so bad about replacing it. I know I’m privileged & I’m committed to never shake my attitude of gratitude.
