Selectively Juggling

I know without a shadow of a doubt that October 14th 2023 will be a moment forever etched within Australian history and on our collective psyche. On October 14th, 2023 a referendum was held to effectively ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples were given a “Voice” within our antiquated constitution. A voice enshrined in law, which enabled true self-determinism. Instead of ensuring we moved forward with compassion, humanity and intelligence, our nation lay twisted and broken. Gorged by divisive propaganda driven by the hard right, racism and ignorance. On that day my heart broke, as did my last remnants of naïveté. I will remember the day forever, as will our historical records, for it was a very dark day.
