A green house

What does your ideal home look like?

I dream of living in a green house, you know the type with glass walls and ceilings. Although I’d have to go with heavy duty polycarbonate sheets for the roof to ensure it would be hail proof. My kitchen floors would be polished cement, with flecks of coloured stone catching the light. I would have industrial stainless steel cabinets on coasters. My kitchen bench would be made from thick slabs of recycled timber. I would have a large country farm style sink. Large expansive windows would allow streams of beautiful natural light. Dozens of green leafy plants will suspend from the ceiling, their leaves cascading down. Exposed timber shelving line the walls. The bedroom areas are at the back of the dwelling, with the master bedroom taking up a mezzanine, loft space.

There will be no nearby neighbours so the bathroom is open, with large expansive windows. Like the kitchen the bathroom and shower areas are a beautiful mix of industrial country, adorned in lush indoor plants.

There will be a large open fireplace in the centre of the home, with a cozy reading nook and lounge. I will add pops of colour with richly textured antique Persian rugs, potplants and art.

Solar panels will provide 100% of the power needed, and the home with have a great water catchment system, with large water tanks. I will have a mix of relaxing outdoor living spaces, surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. Yes, there is definitely a pool. The home will be built on several acres, and as such have fruit and vegetable gardens, and natural water supply.

The home will be filled with light and abundant energy. A space of tranquility and calm. A place where my family can feel loved, creative and safe. There will be privacy and freedom to live our best lives, unencumbered by neighbours. Yet, still there will be a great local community.
