Games, what games?

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

Video games? Hell no, I’m like seriously challenged when it comes to video games, and always have been. Card game? Not really my thing, mind you; I’m still trying to play the dud hand of cards life itself dealt me. Board games? Nope, not my thing either. Oh, hang on, I have enjoyed playing Cards Against Humanity. Does that make me a bad person? Today, I caught glimpses of the joy, and fun role-playing games can bring. My son had his mates over to play Dungeons and Dragons; he’s a serious Dungeon Master who delights in writing epic gameplay. I was trying to seek solace in my bedroom to avoid the noise, testosterone and battle royale. It was like my ears were hit by regular waves of raucous laughter, growing in both frequency and intensity. I wish I had been introduced to Dungeons and Dragons when I was a teenager, I’m certain my inner game-geek would have loved the chance to flex some fantasy muscle.
